CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWCTC) Refresher Course

Overview

This one-day accredited CITB Temporary Works Co-Ordinator Refresher Course is designed for candidates who have already passed the 2 day Temporary Works Co-ordinator training.

All Temporary Works Co-ordinator certificates are valid for 5 years from the date of issue. Candidates will be required to show their original certificate prior to attending training. Any delegate that does not attend prior to the end date of their certificate will risk their right to attend a refresher course and will be required to attend the full 2 day course.

Covering temporary works on both small and large sites, this 1-day course focuses on risk management, health and safety regulations and relevant legislation to ensure that co-ordinators understand the role and expectations of managing a temporary works site effectively.

Objectives

By the end of this 1-day TWCTC refresher course, you’ll have up-to-date knowledge of managing risks on temporary works sites. It will build on your prior understanding of the following:

• Adopting procedural controls as outlined in BS 5875:2019
• The essentials of good risk management (BS 5975:2019)
• Safety management for temporary works
• Managing temporary works on large and small sites
• The 4Cs: communication, co-ordination, co-operation and competence

Agenda

The CITB Temporary Works Co-ordinator refresher course covers the following subject areas:

• The role and responsibilities of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator
• The management process as defined in BS 5975:2019
• The effect of BS 5975:2019 on the Temporary Works Co-ordinator role
• Understanding temporary works documentation
• Guidance and legislation relating to temporary works
• Health and safety
• Risk management

Please note: Although there are technical elements to this course, it is not a temporary works technical awareness course.

Assessment

Delegates are required to attend the full day’s training, during which time, they are assessed on the knowledge and understanding of each subject area and are required to sit a multiple-choice test paper consisting of 22 questions, 4 of which are free text questions. The exam pass mark is 78% (21 out of 27).

On successfully passing the end of course assessment, delegates will be awarded a CITB certification, which is valid for five years.

Who Should Attend?

The TWCTC refrresher it is only for those who have previously completed the CITB Temporary Works Co-Ordinator Training Course and been awarded a CITB certificate.

If you’re a Temporary Works Co-ordinator, or have managerial responsibility for temporary works on site, you will need to maintain your knowledge by attending a refresher course every five years.

Prerequisites

Only those delegates who have successfully passed the two day Temporary Works Co-ordinator course, in the last five years, and can provide evidence of this are eligible to attend the one day TWCTC refresher training.

A good understanding of spoken and written English will be necessary to attend and complete the course successfully.
