IPAF Operator Training Course 3a & 3b (E-Learning Theory)

Overview

The IPAF 3a & 3b course with E-Learning Theory requires delegates to successfully complete their online element the day BEFORE the practical assessment.  Candidates should allow 2-3 hours for their online training on a compatible device such as a PC, Mac, Tablet or Smartphone. It is vital that the device has a camera, as IPAF will use facial recognition to ensure identification throughout the course and test.

This course is designed for anyone who operates a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP), such as scissor lifts or boom lifts. Delegates should take this course to comply with the duties placed upon employers and employees by law. The International Powered Access Federation licence is recognised all over the world.

  • Full body harness and adjustable restraint lanyard.  You WILL NOT be able to complete the practical element of the training without a suitable harness.

Prerequisites

E-Learning Theory

Delegates are required to take their online training on a compatible device such as a PC, Mac, Tablet or Smartphone. It is vital that the device has a camera, as IPAF will use facial recognition to ensure identification throughout the course and test.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - The correct delegate email address MUST be supplied at the time of booking for e-learning.  The IPAF link will NOT work if the registration email is forwarded to a different email address. The e-learning MUST be completed before attending the course otherwise the delegate will be refused entry.

Practical Assessment

Candidate Entry Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Must be literate
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must have completed and passed the e-learning element before attending the practical assessment

IPAF Health & Fitness Statement

Since the safe use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms requires that delegates consult safety notices and read and thoroughly understand the manufacturer's instruction manual, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for any MEWP user.

Similarly, since the assembly and use of MEWPS can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights / vertigo, giddiness / difficulty with  balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.

If delegates have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about their fitness to use a MEWP, they must bring them to the attention of their employer. This need not preclude them from using MEWPS, provided their employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties they may have.

IPAF Operator training courses require that each delegate must have the following P.P.E:

  • Photo I.D - Passport or Photocard Driving Licence
  • Safety Helmet
  • Safety Boots or Shoes
  • Gloves
  • Hi-Vis Vest
  • Full body harness and adjustable restraint lanyard.  You WILL NOT be able to complete the practical element of the training without a suitable harness.
