CISRS Part 1 Scaffolder Tube and Fitting Course

Overview

This comprehensive 10-day CISRS Part 1 Scaffolder Tube and Fitting Course will give you a solid grounding in scaffolding. Through practical sessions in erecting scaffolding, altering a structure and dismantling it safely and effectively, you’ll learn essential aspects of health and safety on site.

Current Scheme Rules up to and including 29th February 2024

You need to have held your CISRS Trainee or Scaffolder Labourer card for at least six months and have a minimum of 6 months operational experience under direct supervision of a qualified scaffolder. By the end of ten days’ training, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of how to work safely at height, while constructing a range of scaffold structures.

NEW Scheme Rules from 1st March 2024

From 1st March 24 anyone who successfully passes the CISRS Part 1 Course will be issued with a CISRS Trainee Scaffolders Card which is valid for 18 months.  A minimum of 6 months operational experience is required for students to progress onto the CISRS Part 2 Course.

Objectives

By the end of this hands-on, practical CISRS course, you will:

• Have a solid understanding of the scaffolding industry
• Learn how to erect, alter and dismantle basic structures
• Have good practical skills in erecting independent and putlog scaffolds, towers and birdcage scaffolds
• Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety measures and safe working practices
• Understand health and safety regulations and inspection
• Explain the material requirements of a range of scaffold structures
• Identify potential hazards and overcome obstacles
• Construct scaffolds in accordance with Safety Guidance Note 4 (SG4)
• Understand and follow basic scaffold drawings
• Define the basics of tie testing
• Confidently make alterations to a scaffold structure, such as changing the lift height)

Assessment

At the end of this CISRS Part 1 Scaffolding Tube and Fitting course, you will need to pass several written theory tests and a practical skills assessment.

On successful completion of the training, you’ll receive a CISRS Certificate of training and can apply for your CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card to be updated with this new qualification.

Who Should Attend?

This training course is for scaffolding operatives, scaffolding trainees and labourers who need relevant scaffolding expertise to carry out their work, using traditional tube and fitting scaffolding equipment.

Under current scheme rules (up to 29th February 2024) you must have held a valid CISRS Trainee Scaffolder or CISRS Scaffolding Labourer (COTS) card for at least six months to be able to book this course.

Under the new scheme rules you must have held a CISRS Scaffolding Labourer card (completed after 1st March 24) for a minimum of 3 months to be elidgible to attend this course.

Prerequisites

In order to attend the this specialist construction training course delegates must provide evidence that they meet the below pre-requisites: -

• CITB HS&E test - taken within 2 years of application
• Current scheme rules (up to and including 29th February 24) Held a CISRS Trainee or Scaffolder Labourer card for at least 6 months and have a minimum of 6 months operational experience under direct supervision of a qualified scaffolder.
• New Scheme Rules (from 1st March 24) Held a CISRS Scaffolder Labourer card for a least 3 months and have a minimum of 3 months operational experience under direct supervision of a qualified scaffolder.
