About the CITB SMSTS Course
An SMSTS qualification is an essential part of site safety management training. The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and is nationally recognised within the construction industry.
Who is this SMSTS Course for?
Anyone in a management or supervisor’s role on a construction site is legally required to undertake health and safety training to help create a safe working environment. This course is recommended for site supervisors, project managers and site managers as well as proprietors of small to medium sized companies.
What Does the SMSTS Course Cover?
The SMSTS course is a 5 day course with a certificate valid for 5 years from completion. This course covers the following topics: -
- Health & Safety at Work Act
- Risk Assessment
- Method Statements
- Changes in Accepted Working Practices
- Confined Spaces
- Electricity
- Excavations
- Demolition
- Working at Heights
- Scaffolding
- Management of Occupational Health
- Construction Design and Management Regulations
- Behavioural safety
Being accredited by the CITB, the SMSTS training scheme is one of the best training schemes available, and believed to be the training scheme of choice for all site managers.
There is also a 2 day CITB – SMSTS Refresher Course available to book online, also held at many of our training venues in Manchester and throughout the UK. This refresher course is designed for anyone who has attended the 5 day SMSTS course, whose certificate is due to expire.
