About the CITB SMSTS Refresher Course
An SMSTS qualification is an essential part of site safety management training and is accredited by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and is also nationally recognised within the construction industry.
The SMSTS Refresher Course provides a great overview for its students of legislative changes and the implication of these changes for them and colleagues in their workplace.
Who is this SMSTS Refresher Course for?
This 2 day CITB SMSTS Refresher Training course is designed for candidates who have already passed the 5 day SMSTS Course. The SMSTS Certificate is valid for 5 years from the date of issue. Candidates will be required to show their original SMSTS certificate. Delegates MUST attend both days in order to obtain their certification.
What Does the SMSTS Refresher Course Cover?
This course covers the following topics: -
- Legislation, ACOP updates with discussions on impact and practical aspects of compliance
- Overview of proposed/impending legislation
- Safety management systems, policies, plans and performance measuring
- Accident statistics, costs, causes, management responsibilities/methods in prevention
- Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
- Management of Contractors
- HSE's current focus on construction activities
- Communication and consultation aspects, effective use of 'toolbox talks' and 'site inductions'
- Behavioural safety inc. awareness of human error, stress and prevention
- Syndicate exercises
